World Book Day Costume Ideas

In this post I am going to share with you some World Book Day costume ideas. Sometimes I get stuck on ideas of characters to do, and these are not only good ideas, but they are also easy to make, and don't require a lot of DIY skill. So, I'm looking forward to this post, and let's go!

1. The BFG (Big Friendly Giant) from The BFG by Roald Dahl

For this one you will need: some old clothes, a headband, card and a black marker. First, you will need to tear some of the hems of your old clothes. This will create a worn effect. Next, cut out the shape of some big ears from the card, and make them look more like ears using the marker. Then, stick them onto your headband. And you are done!

2. Ruby/Garnet from Double Act by Jacqueline Wilson

For my second idea, you need two hairbands, a striped t-shirt and simple jeans. First, plait your hair into two neat plaits for Garnet, and messy plaits for Ruby. Tie them with the hairbands. Then put on your jeans and t-shirt and you are done!

3. Wally from Where's Wally by Martin Handford

For this costume you will need a red and white striped t-shirt, blue trousers, a red and white hat and round glasses. This one requires no DIY's. Just put on all the clothes and glasses, and you are done! Simple!

4. Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz by Frank Joslyn Baum

You will need: a blue checked dress, a white t-shirt, and two hairbands. Plait your hair into two neat plaits, and then tie them with the hairbands. Put on the clothes, and you are done. Simply wear school socks and shoes.

5. Thing 1/Thing 2 from The Cat in the Hat by Dr Seuss

For the last costume in this list you will need a red t-shirt, white paper, a safety pin, a marker and jeans. First, cut out a circle in the paper, and write Thing 1 or Thing 2 on it. Then pin your circle to your t-shirt using the safety pin. Next, put on the clothes and you are finished. For a last touch, you can buy a blue wig and wear that too.

So that was my list of World Book Day costume ideas. I hope these have inspired you, and see you soon on my blog! 📚
